| Our founding fathers saw the need for organized labour, and
incorporated Local 625 in the Halifax area in 1908. The majority of
the work performed was in the construction field. As time passed, the rest of mainland Nova Scotia saw the need for a unionized work environment, and Local 1818 was given its charter. The two locals worked together to provide a better life and working conditions for their members. In the early 70's, labour disputes, government interference and lengthy court battles undermined our financial stability resulting in a directive by the International Office to amalgamate with Local 625. |
